During the 1980'ies I regularly visited Lappland in North Sweden. Mostly in the summertime, but from time to time in Winter as well, and by now I had visited the area in most of the seasons. Yet 1986 I was still missing late Fall in Lappland, and as I at that time received an invitation to go to the Abisko mountains I didn't take long to accept. There is a long way going to Abisko, and after more than 24 hours on the train up through Sweden we were met by an extraordinary fine weather, much different from what we had feared. |
