| Königssee is situated centrally in the Berchtesgadener Alps, and is known to be the closest you can get to a Norwegian fiord when you are in Bavaria. The surface of the lake is at only 600 metres, but as the surrounding mountains rise to more than 2700 metres, you here find the largest height differences found in the German part of the Alps. |
