In 1990 I had the intention of going to Nepal for an expedition, initially for climbing Baruntse, but as I had to cancel this project as it was impossible to find enough people interested in this, I finally decided to go on my own and climb Mera Peak instead. Flying in to Lukla, and in four days hiking across Zatrwa La I reached Mera Basecamp in Khare, as described in a previous gallery  . However, the conditions on the following days only allowed day trips around Khare , but later weather finally stabilized and I was ready to make my attempt on Mera Peak.
