In August 2006 I had succeeded in qualifying for a start number in Pikes Peak Marathon on the mountain of the same name in Colorado, so with Martin, my good running mate, I had taken three weeks to Colorado to prepare for the race and in the end participate in it. The race begins in Manitou Springs in an elevation of 1918 meters and you run to the top of the mountain of the same name in an elevation of 4299 meters before you return, back to Manitou Springs again. So a good acclimatization was essential. |
