In September 2010 I spent a dozen days in Boston and learned here Alex to know. He was an avid mountaineer and hiker, and used any opportunity to draw some fresh air in the nearby White Mountains. He was also a guide of Appalachian Mountain Club, and when he the previous day had arranged a trip to Mount Carrigain I also had the opportunity to follow him on this.
