In 2005 my running mate Martin had begun to talk about an interesting mountain race in Colorado. A race of marathon distance leading to the summit of the 4299 metre high Pikes Peak and down again. I had always been interested in running up to the summit of a mountain, but had never heard about a race leading to the summit of a 4000-metre peak, so when I later the same year visited Colorado with my travel mate Erik it felt natural that we also let our way pass this place. And the following year I went to Colorado with Martin, where we in the days up to the race stayed overnight in the starting point for the race: Manitou Springs. |
